Tonight I attended the Provoked premiere at the Empire Leicester Square. Attended by Aishwarya and Abhishek, amongst others, but this post is mainly about them. :D No, sorry, I didn't take any photos... if I had tried, I'd have probably been carted away by the understandably tetchy bodyguard(s). But I spent the most of this evening sitting directly two rows away from them. Let me quote the London Times when I say they are "ludicrously handsome" and "ludicrously beautiful". dlhfdkhgdjfdafj Seriously. Wow. Now that I've seen them in RL, I don't think photographs do either of them justice... because hubba hubba... Abhishek is so elegant and handsome... and Aishwarya is much, much smaller than I thought she was, and she's considered tall for a BW actress! She was looking stunning this evening, and holy **** that's some bling she has on her finger. And yes, they looked very much in love, and completely unfazed by the crowds of girls trying every tactic to get a photo of them, sharing little jokes, laughing together and talking to the other members of the cast and crew around them. I was quite happy to leave the scram to get pictures to others and stay back and watch them from a distance. I'd like to think it was my cynical attitude towards celebrities holding me back. But really, I was star-struck. :P They even stayed until the end of the film, which is rare. And were quickly guided out, but not before I got right next to them... I made eye contact with Abhishek and smiled at him but then again he and Aishwarya were whisked away out of a side-entrance. Just as well, its not as if I'd have said anything coherent. Hell, I might even have hurled myself at him. A girl only has so much self-control. Nandita Das was also there and got a decent amount of attention, but was able to leave by the public exit so I got to say hi and shake her hand before quickly leaving the cinema (I had a train to catch. Woe.) The woman upon which the film itself is based, Kiranjit Singh Ahluwalia and her two sons were also there and got a great round of applause at the beginning. And the best part? The film was good. No, not good. Excellent. A little slow in places, but uplifting. I'd say this was Aishwarya's best performance, perhaps even better than Raincoat. Kiranjit's freedom through imprisonment was well developed with excellent support from the likes of Miranda Richardson, Nandita Das and Robbie Coltrane. There were several moments which brought tears to my eyes. On a lighter note, I think its the first time I have laughed at a "bosom" joke. I'd definitely recommend it. RGV, why do you hurt me so? I didn't have anything against you... I liked Sarkar... and really enjoyed Naach (much to my surprise actually) and EHT and... You do know how to photograph Abhi well... Naach is like a 2 hour 20 minute masterclass on how to make Abhi look HAWT (ok, the whole semi-naked-Antara-in-spaced-out-costume got kinda old after a while... but one shot of Abhi made up for that). Plus you gave us running Abhi in Sarkar. In slo-mo no less (!) ... And then you started on Sholay. And a little part of my BW lovin' heart died. Why Ramu... WHYYYYY.
